CLUE TO SUSPECT COVID INFECTION EVEN BEFORE GETTING TO HOSPITAL

This instrument 👆with a thumb inside is called a *Pulse oximeter* . It is one of the most important instrument in medical practice in this COVID era. It measures the amount of oxygen in the blood and displays the result in percentage. It also measures the pulse rate-PR- (the beating of the heart) and displays the results as beats per minute (bpm). A normal person has oxygen concentration equal to or more than 95%. In patients with COVID pneumonia, the oxygen concentration, called SPO2, is usually less than 90%. So it is a very valuable instrument to be owed personally and as a family. If anyone has cough and is breathing fast, COVID can be a big suspect and can be further suspected by sliding this instrument and checking oxygen concentration. If it is less than 90%, oxygen need to be given and hospital admission is needed.

Remember that diagnosis or confirmation of COVID is by doing laboratory test on sample collected from nose and back of tongue deep in the throat.

The test is free.
